Description: This course will explore some of the major themes, issues, and debates in American History from the end of the Civil War to the modern day. Topics include immigration and internal migrations, the changing nature of citizenship and social justice, the country's rise as a global power, and the dramatic transformations in the American economy and society over the last half century. The class will focus on learning to think and write critically about historical issues, as well as gaining insights into the methods historians use to interpret the past.
Partially fulfills legislative requirement for American history.
