Spanish 506 is designed for the true beginner or the student who has had little experience with Spanish. We devote more or less equal energy to the four skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking, while also learning about the Spanish and Spanish American cultures. Students are expected to attend class regularly. Students should also expect to devote one to three hours daily to homework and study, depending upon their individual experience and language-learning ability. By the end of the course, students will be able to discuss a range of topics of general interest: their plans for the weekend, what they like to eat and wear, the weather, the university, family, and so on.
Official UT Course Description: Spanish 506 and 604 may not both be counted.
(Note: students planning to enroll for Spanish 507 at UT Austin must have taken SPN 506 at UT Austin or University Extension.)
